Post #1 - Welcome to Rimant Construction

Hi, my name is Martin Taplin, President of Rimant Construction, a Sacramento based general contractor focusing on residential construction servicing Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado Counties.

Through this blog, I will be discussing my thoughts on a range of topics such as outdoor design ideas, which room remodel may increase your home value the most and new products.

This week, I will give you a background about me, how I got into construction, my experience and the vision for the future of my company.

Born and raised near London, UK, I attended and gained a BA in Business Economics from Oxford Brookes University. Shortly afterwards I left to go traveling around the world (a passion of mine) including Dubai and Australia before settling on the South Island of New Zealand. In the tourist hotspot of Queenstown, I found myself taking on several construction roles in high end new build homes in the resort area. During this time, I completed a 3-year national apprenticeship program in carpentry and home building. After 11 years of living in New Zealand where I had found my career and met my now wife, we decided to move back to Fair Oaks, California where she grew up and where her family lived. For the last 4 years I have worked in residential construction, building custom homes in Placer County and remodeling homes in both Placer and Sacramento counties.

After earning my general contractor's license in late 2024, I started my own construction company allowing me to control and execute the projects I undertake. The focus will be residential remodeling and construction including additions and Additional Building Units as well outdoor living spaces. I want to stand out from other construction companies by delivering high standards, excellent service and clear communication. My clients deserve to have their say on their project.

In the future, we will be overseeing custom home builds with a focus on ‘passive homes’, which will allow clients to maximize technology, such as Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs), to help reduce yearly housing costs such as power as well as having a home that fits in seamlessly with its surroundings.

If you have a project you wish to speak with us about, please feel free to email me at martin@rimantconstruction.com to organize a free consultation.
